Terms of use
These terms govern your use of FundingData: the website at fundingdata.com, the app, the API, the MCP server and the data. Last updated 30 October 2026.
01Who we are
FundingData is provided by Fores Media Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 08749657), registered office 81 Turners Hill, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, EN8 9BD, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). Contact: contact@fundingdata.com.
By creating an account, using an API key or an OAuth connection, or otherwise using FundingData, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you use FundingData for an organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it. A separate signed data licence takes precedence over these terms where the two conflict.
02Accounts and keys
- The app, the API and the MCP server need an account. Accounts are created by sign-up or by invitation. You must be at least 18.
- An account is for one person. Keep sign-in links, sessions, API keys and OAuth tokens confidential; you are responsible for use made through your account and your keys. Revoke an exposed key from the account page and tell us.
03The data
FundingData records startup funding rounds, investors, companies and related events compiled from public sources (news reports, press releases, regulatory filings such as SEC EDGAR and UK Companies House, and program directories). Every record links its source. Records are extracted and normalised partly by automated systems, including AI models, and can contain errors. Values that are estimated rather than stated in a source are labelled as such.
The data is provided “as is”. We do not promise that it is complete, accurate or up to date; check the cited source before you rely on a figure, and report errors (section 06).
Not advice. Nothing in FundingData is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or invest in anything.
Public-domain material, such as SEC filings, stays free for anyone to use from its original source. These terms cover our compilation of the data and what we add to it: selection, structure, normalised values, links between records, labels and summaries. The articles and pages we cite belong to their publishers; their own terms apply to them.
04Licence and permitted use
While your account is active and subject to your plan, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the data for your organisation’s internal purposes. You may:
- use it in your own research, analysis, reports, CRM and internal workflows;
- use it in internal AI tools, agents and retrieval (RAG) systems, provided their outputs stay inside your organisation or meet the next point;
- publish insubstantial extracts, such as individual figures or a short list, in an article, report or presentation, with the attribution “Source: FundingData” and, online, a link to fundingdata.com.
Without a separate written data licence you may not:
- resell, sublicense, redistribute or publicly display the data or a substantial part of it, including through your own product, API, dataset or an AI service that third parties can use;
- use the data to build, train, fine-tune or evaluate a dataset, database or AI model that is offered to third parties or competes with FundingData;
- get around plan limits, quotas, rate limits or access controls, scrape the site or app, share API keys, or publish API or MCP responses in bulk.
05Plans, trials and payment
- Plans. The free plan and the paid plans (Pro, API) differ in history window, results per search, monthly records, alerts, export, AI answers and bulk access, as shown on /pricing when you subscribe. Monthly records are counted per account across its API keys, MCP use and CSV exports, reset on the 1st of each month (UTC), and do not carry over.
- Trials. If a plan is offered with a free trial, the trial length and the price are shown before you start. The subscription begins and is charged automatically when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then.
- Billing. Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe, and renew automatically for the same period until cancelled. Pro is billed monthly or yearly; the API plan is billed yearly. Prices exclude VAT or sales tax unless shown otherwise. If a payment fails and is not resolved, the account moves to the free plan.
- Price and plan changes. We may change prices or plan limits. A change applies from your next billing period and we will tell you at least 14 days before it does; you can cancel before it applies.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from the account page. Access continues until the end of the period you have paid for. Fees for a period already started are not refunded, except as set out below or where the law requires.
- If you are a consumer. FundingData is designed for business use. If you subscribe as a consumer in the UK, you may cancel within 14 days of buying a subscription. Because you ask us to start the service straight away, we refund the price minus an amount proportionate to the service provided before you told us. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
- After the subscription ends. Data exported or delivered through the API under the API plan or a data licence must be deleted within 30 days of the end of the subscription, unless a data licence says otherwise. Insubstantial extracts already published under section 04 may stay published.
06Corrections
Report a wrong field through the app, the API (/v1/corrections) or by email. Reports are reviewed; a record changes only when a correction is accepted. If a record names you and you want it corrected or removed, see the privacy policy.
07Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep FundingData available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may change, add or remove features and sources. If we withdraw a paid feature in a way that materially reduces what you paid for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your prepaid period.
08Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close an account, or revoke a key, if these terms are breached, a payment is not made, the account puts the service or other users at risk, or the law requires it. We will tell you why and, where reasonable, give you the chance to put things right first. If we close a paid account without such a reason, we refund the unused part of your prepaid period. You can close your account at any time by emailing us.
09Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
- Subject to that, we are not liable for decisions you make on the basis of the data, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or data, or any indirect or consequential loss.
- Subject to that, our total liability arising out of or in connection with FundingData in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period and £100.
- If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill; we are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable or for business losses.
10Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will give at least 14 days’ notice of a material change by email or in the app, unless a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the change applies; using FundingData after that date means you accept the updated terms.
11Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their local courts.
